Using Context to study with PocketPhantom

What Context is

Context is a block of reference material — free text plus attached files — that PocketPhantom adds to the front of every question you ask. Instead of re-pasting your lecture notes each time, you load them once and they stay in scope until you change them.

The practical difference: without Context you get a generic textbook explanation. With Context you get an answer that uses your lecturer's notation, your course's definitions, and the examples from your own slides.

Setting it up

1. Open Settings → Context.
2. Type or paste reference material into the text box — a syllabus, formula sheet, or glossary works well.
3. Attach files with the file card for longer material such as lecture notes or slide exports.
4. Close settings. Every question from now on is answered against that material.

Context persists between sessions, so it survives restarting the app. Clear it or swap it out when you move to a different subject.

What to put in it

Context works best with material that shapes how an answer should be given:

• Course notation and conventions — so formulas match what your lecturer writes.
• Glossaries and definitions — so terms are used the way your course uses them.
• A syllabus or module outline — so explanations stay at the right level.
• Worked examples — so explanations follow a method you have already been taught.
• Style or formatting rules — a citation style, a lab-report structure.

Keep it focused. A tight two pages of the right material produces better answers than fifty pages of everything you own.

Studying with it

Once your material is loaded, some prompts that work well:

• "Explain this concept using the notation from my notes."
• "Quiz me on chapter three — one question at a time, and tell me why I am wrong."
• "I answered this and got it wrong. Walk me through where my reasoning broke."
• "Summarise this lecture into a one-page revision sheet."
• "Give me three practice problems like the worked example, with solutions hidden until I ask."

Pair this with the screen capture button: put a problem on screen, capture it, and ask for a walkthrough of the method rather than just the final answer.

Limits and cost

Context is capped at 200,000 characters — roughly a short book. If you exceed it, trim to the material that actually changes the answer.

Because the same block is sent with every question, it is prompt-cached: you are not charged full price for re-sending it each time. A large Context still consumes more of your monthly allowance than a small one, so keep an eye on Settings → Usage if you load something very large.
